Barry E. Goodwin, 72, Rome

ROME, NY —  Barry E. Goodwin, 72, of McAvoy Avenue, Rome, passed away at home, Monday, Feb. 24, 2020.

Born Jan. 7, 1948, at EJ Noble Hospital, Alexandria Bay, NY, he was a son of Elno and Vivian Taylor Goodwin.

Barry was a 1966 graduate of Hammond Central Schools and a 1970 graduate of Potsdam State College with a Bachelors in Political Science and Humanities.

A marriage to Marion Sciortino ended in divorce.

Most recently, he worked as a Collections Manager for Rome Saving & Loan and various other local banks in the past.  He was also a Substitute Teacher at the Utica City School District.

Barry was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Free & Accepted Masons- Lodge #47, both in Utica, NY.  He was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, computer technology and lengthy phone conversations with his family.

He was also a Councilman of the 6th Ward, Utica, NY.

Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean Davidson, Hammond, NY and Penny and Kent Liede, LaFargeville, NY; three nieces, Danielle Liede, DeAnne Coles and husband, Anthony, LaFargeville, NY and Megan Liede, Dexter, NY; three grandnephews, Tyler, Carson and Lincoln Coles; numerous cousins.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2020, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Hammond, NY, with Rev. Christopher Carrera officiating. Family and friends will gather at the church following services.
