Barry E. Miner, 63, Bradenton, FL

BRADENTON, FL – Barry E. Miner, 63, passed away on March 28, 2017 at Tampa General Hospital after a short battle with genetic liver disease.

Originally from Lake Placid, NY he entered the United States Navy in 1973.  He was discharged in 1974.  He worked for Harley Brothers Fuel Company, and was a member of the Lake Placid Fire Department and Drill Team.

In 1987, he started working for the Department of Defense at Fort Drum as a Lieutenant Firefighter, before retiring in December of 2009.

Before retiring in Florida, he resided in Carthage, New York, he was a member of the Carthage Fire Department.  He was also past commander of the American Legion Post 789 from 2009-2011.

His survivors include his beloved wife of 21 years, Joan (Hayden) Miner; three children, Daniel Bickford of Lake Placid, NY; Bradley (Julie) Miner of Texas; and Brandi (Spencer) Ford of NY; two stepsons, Ryan E. Hayden of Las Vegas, NV; and Jared W. Hayden of Richmond, VA; five sisters, Carol (Mark) Pierce of Virginia Beach, VA; Claudia (Joe) Smith of Wilmington, NY; Pam (Randy) Weels of Lady Lake, FL; Laurie Diehl of NY; and Anne Lampart of Houston, TX; two brothers, David (Valarie) Miner of Bennington, VT; and Michael (Naomi) Miner of Melbourne, FL.  He also leaves 14 grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Barry was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Veronica Miner, and a sister Donna LaHart.

A graveside service will be held noon Aug.,19, 2018, in St. Agnes Cemetery, Power House Road in Lake Placid, NY.  There will be a gathering at the Lake Placid American Legion immediately following the graveside service.
