WATERTOWN, NY — Betty J. Knowlton, 86, Watertown, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at Samaritan Summit Village.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, with entombment to follow in Glenwood Mausoleum.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m.
She was born June 17, 1933, in West Carthage, a daughter of James and Vivian Klinger Beardsley.
Betty married Charles Knowlton at Holy Family Church on March 20, 1954. They lived in Watertown all their married life. Mr. Knowlton passed away March 16, 1982.
Betty was a life member of Holy Family Church and also Legion of Mary. Her church family was very important to her. She went to mass every day, even when it was storming she would walk. She never wanted to miss a day.
Her family was her world, the time she spent with them was very important to her. She also enjoyed playing bingo, going for walks, taking part in the music and activities at Summit and going to Walmart.
Betty is survived by her children, Charles “Chuck” (Patty) Knowlton, Arygle, NY; James “Jim” (Toni Trautman) Knowlton, Sackets Harbor, NY; Mike (Laurie Orford) Knowlton, Black River, NY; Mary (John Gould) Knowlton, Watertown, NY; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband Charles, and a sister Mary Trembley, all predeceased her.
Her family would like to thank the nurses on the 4th floor of Samaritan Summit for the wonderful care that was given to their mom.
