Boldt Castle & Boldt Yacht House open Saturday, May 12, for the season

ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY – The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority, owners of historic Boldt Castle and the Boldt Yacht House, will open its facilities for the 2018 season on Saturday May 12, and will remain open daily through October 21, 2018.

This season will feature interior restoration to the Alster Tower with completion of the Venetian Room. A video presentation inside the Alster Tower will also keep visitors well informed of this extraordinary structure’s restoration progress and the unique processes applied to this room.

Beginning this season visitors to Boldt Castle will view period clothing displayed inside the Boldt family’s bedroom suites and the Boldt Castle kitchen. The clothing is from the permanent collection of the Jefferson County Historical Society, Watertown, NY and on loan to Boldt Castle.

Additionally, a new (free) smart phone audio guide app has been developed for 2018. Through this app guests will be afforded a guided audio tour accompanied by imagery and even video. This feature will reveal new insights into the history of Boldt Castle, its creator and the ongoing efforts of the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority to preserve these historic properties.

Each season over 12,000 plants and flowers are transported to Heart Island to fill its numerous flower gardens and the Italian Gardens with plants and flowers of many varieties to adorn the beautifully landscaped grounds.

2018 will mark the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority’s 41st year of ownership of historic Boldt Castle and the Boldt Yacht House. During the past four decades the Authority has invested millions of dollars into rehabilitation, restoration and improvements at these landmark properties while at the same time counting over 7 million visitors to this 1000 Islands International destination.
