Brendan E. Duffy, 50, Bronx

BRONX, NY —  Brendan Edward Duffy, 50, of The Bronx, passed away Saturday evening, Dec. 21, 2019, at Metropolitan Jewish Health Services, Block Hospice Residence.

Born March 20, 1969, in Manhattan NY, the first child of William E. And Bernadette M (Keenan) Duffy, he graduated in 1987 from Watertown High School.

Brendan graduated from Devry Technical School and worked as a boiler engineer and plumber for several years. He later found his true calling taking care of others and spent the last decade in dedicated service as a Nursing Assistant. Most recently providing compassionate home-care.

He was an avid reader with an unquenchable thirst for learning. He was often consulted by friends and family for his encyclopedia-like knowledge and he also enjoyed live action video gaming. Brendan had a special place in his heart for animals. He will be missed dearly by his dog, Famous Seamus and cat, George.

As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours. His ashes will be spread in the Atlantic Ocean off of The Rockaways where he had his most cherished childhood memories.

A marriage to Michelle (Wheeler) Duffy ended in divorce. However, in true Brendan fashion they remained friends and supporters throughout the years.

He is survived by his two siblings; Denise Duffy and Brian (Maritza) Duffy and his cherished niece Sofia Duffy, all of The Bronx, his best friend and beloved companion of more than 20 years Robyn Prilop, Bayonne, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his father William in 1999 and his mother Bernadette in 2017.

In tribute and memory, let there be songs to fill the air. May you dance like no one is watching.
