Brian Moore named next superintendent of General Brown Central School District

DEXTER, NY — We are pleased to announce that the Board of Education has selected Mr. Brian Moore as the next Superintendent of the General Brown Central School District, pending formal appointment by the board at a future meeting. Mr. Moore currently serves as the Indian River High School Principal, Philadelphia, NY. He previously served as Assistant Principal and then Principal at the Indian River Intermediate School, Dean of Students at Evans Mills Primary, and as a Middle School Counselor at Indian River Middle School.

Mr. Moore earned a Master’s Degree of Education in School Counseling at St. Lawrence University. He then completed a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Building leadership at the University of New England. Mr. Moore later finished a Certificate of Advanced Study in School District Leadership at the College of St. Rose.

A longtime resident of Jefferson County, Mr. Moore moved to the General Brown District in 2002 and lives with his family in Dexter. He has remained active in the General Brown and Indian River communities by coaching youth athletics while also serving as a member of the Dexter Village Planning Board.

The Board wishes to thank those members of the faculty, staff, student body, and community who took the time to provide the Board with comments on each of the candidates.
