PLESSIS, NY — Carl R. Lawton, 65, died on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018.
He was born on Nov. 4, 1953 to Helen and Floyd Lawton.
Carl graduated from Alexandria Central School in 1971 and received his degree in Fisheries and Wildlife from SUNY Cobleskill in 1973.
Surviving are a son, Derrick Lawton of Philadelphia NY; two sisters, Loretta (John) Gallman of Floral City, FL, and Patti Ferrara of Alexandria Bay; several nieces and nephews.
A marriage to Dierdre Fram ended in divorce.
Carl’s parents predeceased him.
Carl was a life long resident of the Alexandria Bay area.
He enjoyed fishing, especially spring bullhead fishing, hunting, gardening, fantasy football, darts and was an avid Syracuse University basketball and football fan.
Carl loved the St. Lawrence River and worked maintenance jobs and planted beautiful flower gardens on Florence and Cherry Islands.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be given to the Alexandria Bay Fire Department in Carl’s name.
