Carolyn Hudson Towner, 83, Ellisburg

ELLISBURG, NY —  Carolyn Hudson Towner, 83, a life-long resident of Ellisburg, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020, at her home under the care of her children and the direction of Hospice of Jefferson County.

Her memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Grove St., Adams, with Rev. Robert Decker officiating. Burial will follow in Ellisburg Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, NY.

Carolyn was born April 1, 1937, a daughter to Charles D. and Evelyn Sullivan Hudson.  She began her education in the Ellisburg Schoolhouse, transferring to Union Academy Belleville after the merger, graduating in 1955.  Carolyn was employed at Tomacy’s Restaurant for over 30 years.  She later worked at Associated Insurance in Lacona for three years until retiring.

She married Roger Towner December 29, 1984, at St. Cecilia’s Church. Roger passed away June 8, 2019.

Carolyn was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church, serving on the Parish Council and was a past president of the council. She was a member of the St. Cecilia’s Altar and Rosary Society. Carolyn was active in her children’s activities, serving as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and Boy Scouts Den Mother. Carolyn organized the church’s Youth Group Golf Tourney. She was a member of the Ellisburg Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and was a constant worker at the departments Friday night Fish Fries.

She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and taking part in all of their activities. She enjoyed golfing and loved her animals.

Carolyn was an accomplished cook and seamstress, making all of her daughter’s wedding dresses.

Surviving are her children Terri Cough (John Catalano), Baldwinsville, Stacie (John) Miele, South Carolina, Todd (Jill) Dack, Mannsville, Stephen (Terry) Dack, Adams, Tammi (Raymond) Schultz, Adams, Shawn Dack, Ellisburg and Tricia (Jody) Rogers, Alabama; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister Katherine Palmer, Sandy Creek; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, C. David Hudson and Richard Hudson, and a sister, Margaret “Peggy” Hamilton.
