Catherine M. Dasno, 63, formerly of Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Catherine M. Dasno, 63, a resident of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, and formerly of Watertown, NY, passed away Jan. 9, 2019, after a short illness at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.

Born Sept. 14, 1955, in Watertown, the daughter of Richard Lyle Dasno and Patricia Ann Morin-Dasno, Cathy grew up in Watertown,attended local schools and was a 1974 graduate of Watertown High School.

While living in Watertown she was employed at several local business as well as working at Carthage Area Hospital and the Madonna home after obtaining her nursing degree.

Upon moving to North Carolina in 1996, She put her nursing skills to work, and was employed at the Alexander County Correctional Institution until her early retirement due to health issues in 2013.

Cathy was an avid reader. Her favorite past time was to curl up with a good mystery. She loved to travel especially taking cruises with her daughter Shannon and sister Melissa. She donated to the Angel Tree every Christmas and to food banks whenever possible.

She was a lover of animals especially adored her grandpuppies a little chihuahua named Choco that she lovingly nicknamed (booger). And a pitbull named Otis who she lovingly nicknamed (little brown turd). They will miss Grammy’s early morning treats.

Cathy lived an exemplary life never hurting anyone, was a kind, compassionate and giving person, A lover of family. She raised two wonderful children who grew up to love and adore her.

She will be greatly missed.

Besides her mother and father she is predeceased by two brothers Roswell F. and Richard L. II.

She is survived by a son David A. Dasno, Sandy Creek NY, a daughter and son in law, Shannon (Eric) Dasno-Baugus, Pilot Mountain,North Carolina; granddaughter Hannah M. Dasno, Sandy Creek NY; two sisters Michele (Angelo) Augustine of Watertown and Melissa (Dale) Burr Wilkesboro, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Sherry and Brenda; as well as several nieces, nephews, stepbrothers, and stepsisters.

At the discretion of the family, Cathy’s interment, along with a graveside service will take place at North Watertown Cemetery in the spring.
