ADAMS, NY — Cathleen Ann Kaehler, 62, Adams, NY, passed away Aug. 14, 2018, in her home with her family by her side.
Calling hours will be noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, with a prayer service to follow at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.
Cathy was born to Charles and Marjorie Cohrs on Nov. 3, 1955, in St. Joseph, MI. She graduated from Larkin High School, Elgin, IL, in 1973 and married Frank Kaehler on August 11th of the same year.
Frank and Cathy raised their two daughters, Kari and Kristen, in Elgin, where Cathy ran her own house cleaning business for 20 years. Cathy then worked at Scoo-B-Doo’s in Dundee, where she discovered her passion for dog grooming. Frank and Cathy moved to Rockford, IL, in 2004, where Cathy started a mobile dog grooming business. In 2007, Frank and Cathy moved to Henderson, NY, to be close to their grandchildren and, eventually, settled in Adams.
Cathy worked at AMS, Inc and continued to groom dogs in people’s homes on the weekends.
In 2015, Cathy was diagnosed with ALS and retired in 2016.
Cathy’s favorite past-time was being a grandmother. She happily filled her days attending t-ball and soccer games, award ceremonies, school concerts and dance recitals.
She is survived by her husband, Frank, her two daughters, Kari Hogan (Henderson), Kristen Weston (Todd- Sackets Harbor) and her four grandchildren- Mia and Sam Hogan, Audrey Coburn and Charlie Weston. She is also survived by her mother, Marjorie Cohrs (Henderson) and her four brothers- David Cohrs (AZ), Mark Cohrs (CO), Brent Cohrs (IL) and Keith Cohrs (NY).
