City Council to honor Fort Drum soldiers who assisted at crash scene on Arsenal Street

WATERTOWN, NY —  At the November 1, 2021 City Council Meeting, the Mayor and Council Members will host the following soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division assigned to Fort Drum who provided assistance at the October 14, 2021 horrific traffic accident on Arsenal Street:

Specialist William L. Berube, 642nd Engineer Support Company

Specialist Zachary Broxson, 642nd Engineer Support Company

Specialist Shane T. Cockerham, 642nd Engineer Support Company

Specialist Jacob G. Jones, 642nd Engineer Support Company

Sergeant Major Jake Smith, Head Quarters and Head Quarters Battalion,
10th Mountain Division

Through their quick response and training, these soldiers rushed to the scene and
assisted in saving the lives of those involved by rescuing them from a burning car and working quickly to help extinguish the flames. Mayor Smith and the City Council Members will honor these soldiers, as well as acknowledging our own Fire Department personnel, Police Department personnel, Town of Watertown personnel for providing support, and members of Guilfoyle Ambulance Services who put themselves in harm’s way for their fellow citizens.
