Copenhagen woman injured after collision with dump truck in Lowville

LOWVILLE, NY — A Copenhagen woman was injured Monday afternoon when her vehicle struck a dump truck head-on, according to the Lowville Police Department.

Mindy Lucas was traveling westbound on Dayan Street in a Chevy Equinox when she took her eyes of the road as she was reaching into a bag causing the vehicle to cross the center line and collide head-on with a dump truck operated by Lowell Zehr of Lowville, police said.

Ms. Lucas was transported to Lewis County General Hospital for leg injuries and later flown by helicopter to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, police said.

Mr. Zehr was not injured.

The police investigation of the accident is continuing.
