Cornell Cooperative Extension announces new executive director

WATERTOWN, NY  – Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Association of Jefferson County is pleased to announce the promotion of Ms. Amanda Root as their next executive director.

Ms. Root has many years of experience working at CCE Jefferson. Since 2003, she has worked in multiple facets of the organization, including Parenting, Nutrition, Local Foods, Fort Drum, and Operations. She brings extensive knowledge of all program areas, successful grant writing skills, and strong leadership abilities to the executive director position. The Board of Directors is confident in Ms. Root’s ability to successfully lead CCE Jefferson. She will begin her new duties on November 5th.

Ms. Root has lived and worked in the North Country all her life. She values the close-knit communities, being close to her family, and the many recreational opportunities available. She is very involved in the community, serving on several boards and committees. Having grown up in rural Jefferson County, Amanda understands the importance of Extension supporting our families both civilian and military, enhancing our diverse rural economy, and offering opportunities to our youth to grow and thrive in the north country.

Ms. Root is a 2001 graduate of SUNY Oswego and a 2003 graduate of SUNY Potsdam. Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County’s mission is to educate youth, families, farmers, and communities using research-based knowledge for practical application and lifelong learning.
