Samaritan Medical Center reports first inpatient case of COVID-19

Statistics as of 5pm Monday, April 6, 2020:

Jefferson County: 41 positive cases, 1 hospitalized

As of April 6 at 12:00pm, the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department confirmed 63 positive COVID-19 cases in St. Lawrence County. As of April 6 there have been 4 (four) hospitalizations related to the positive cases. So far, 17 (seventeen) individuals have come off mandatory isolation, and are doing well.

  • All non-essential functions of the courts in Jefferson County have been postponed until further notice. All State Courts including Watertown City Court have been centralized in the Jefferson County Court Complex at 163 Arsenal Street. You may call (315) 671-4699 if you have any ESSENTIAL matters with the Courts.

  • Jefferson County: Some buildings closed to the public effective March 23

  • Watertown City Hall – closed

  • The Jefferson County Health and Services Committee and Finance and Rules Committee will not meet in April due to the coronavirus outbreak.

  • The Watertown Police Department Records Department window at the Public Safety Building has been closed until further notice. Members of the public may still request records via email at PoliceRecords@watertown-ny.gov. There may be delays in the processing of records requests due to records office employees working from home, where they do not have access to all department records.

  • The Watertown City Council additional work session previously scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. has been CANCELLED. The next regular City Council Meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 6, 2020, at 7:00 p.m.

  • The Development Authority of the North Country provides essential services to communities and businesses across the North Country in terms of water and wastewater treatment plan operation, operation of the regional landfill, and telecommunications. Those services will continue as usual, but the Authority has implemented some measures for the protection of its staff and customers. Until further notice, Development Authority staff will not be attending meetings or filling any new service orders unless they are emergency-related. Visitors will not be permitted at any Authority facilities and are urged to conduct their business by phone or electronically for now. Extra cleaning and sanitation efforts are taking place at all Authority locations for the protection of employees. In addition to the essential service providers, all divisions of the Development Authority are working, although some staff are working from different locations to maximize social distancing.   • Due to the recent closure of Watertown’s City Hall to the public and non-essential personnel, the City April Planning Board Meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday April 7, 2020, is now CANCELLED. The next scheduled Planning Board meeting is currently set for Tuesday, May 5, 2020, pending the clearance to occupy City Hall again without any risk to public health.  Any applications received in the interim will roll over to the next meeting.

  • All Jefferson and Lewis County unemployment appointments are canceled until March 30. Customers will receive new appointments by letter after March 30.

  • DMV urges motorists to do complete transactions online

  • Lewis County Board of Legislators – meeting closed to the public

  • The Town of Watertown offices will be closed until further notice.  All correspondence can be mailed or put in the secure drop off box in the front of the Town Municipal Building.

  • Town of Brownville Planning Board meeting for 04/06/2020 is rescheduled for 05/04/2020

  • Effective March 23, 2020, the Lorraine Town Offices and the playground are closed to the public. The Supervisor and the Highway Superintendent will be reachable via phone at (315) 232-2639 and (315) 232-4676 in the event of an emergency.

  • Town of Edwards offices – closed until further notice.
    Town offices will be closed to the public and all business will be conducted via phone, email and or regular mail. There is also a drop box.   • Alexandria Bay Village Offices – closed until further notice

  • Antwerp Town Board meeting scheduled for April 6 – cancelled

  • Jefferson County Planning Board – March 31 meeting cancelled.  Staff will complete reviews of referrals submitted and return informal staff comments to the municipalities.

  • The Village of West Carthage clerk’s office is closed until March 31. You can call 315-493-2552 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. if you need assistance. We can also arrange appointments if absolutely necessary.  Payments for water/sewer can be made online or placed in the dropbox (no cash). All community room events have been canceled and it is not available for use at this time. The DPW will not enter homes or businesses except in the event of a broken water meter.

  • The Village of Philadelphia is closed until further notice. You can call (315) 642-3452 from 8AM-1PM, Tuesdays-Thursdays for phone payments. Payments for electric, water, sewer and spring clean-up can be made via phone, mail, bill pay (through your own financial institution) or in the drop box at the office. Garbage stickers can be mailed to you. The DPW crew will only enter a home or business in the event of a broken water meter.

  • The Town of Theresa is taking additional precautions . As of Thursday March 19, 2020, the Theresa Town Office will be closed to the public. Please contact the office during normal business hours by phone at 315-628-5046, fax, 315-628-5943, by email, townoffice@townoftheresany.com or by regular mail. The town office does have a mail slot/drop box on the court entrance door. Garbage stickers can be purchased by dropping off at the office or at the transfer site directly.

  • The Village of Theresa Municipal Office is closed to the public; until further notice. The office will be operating during normal hours with a limited staff. Please feel free to contact the office during normal business hours by phone at (315) 628-4425, fax (315) 628-4630 or email jthomas@villageoftheresany.com or tleeson@villageoftheresany.com  Our office is equipped with a drop slot on the main door, which can be used for dropping off bill payments or other paperwork. Garbage stickers can be purchased by dropped off check or by phone and will be mailed to you. Unfortunately Notary, Copy and Fax services will not be available. Additionally our Public Work's Department will be operating with a limited staff as well. All essential services to include garbage pickup, and recycling will continue on their normal schedule.

  • North Country Family Health Center (NCFHC) has temporarily closed its
    LeRay Family Dental & WIC Offices at 26908 Independence Way, Evans Mills, New York, effective Friday, April 3, 2020 given the COVID-19 pandemic. This temporary closure of the LeRay Offices will not interrupt services as LeRay dental patients and LeRay WIC clients will be served by NCFHC’s Watertown location. The LeRay offices are located off Route 11, just outside the Fort Drum main entrance. The offices are expected to re-open on Monday, May 4, 2020. NCFHC’s Watertown and Lowville dental offices will remain open. Patients who are experiencing a dental emergency should call us first before coming into either our main community health center at 238 Arsenal Street, Watertown, 315.782.9450, or our Lowville site at 7785 North State Street, Lowville, 315.376.4500 (located within the Lewis County General Hospital.) The Watertown dental office is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and the Lowville office is open Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and closed on Fridays. Patients may visit NCFHC’s Facebook page for more information on what constitutes a dental emergency. In addition, WIC clients who normally utilize the LeRay WIC Office will continue to be served via telephone. This temporary closure of the LeRay WIC Office will not impact any participants’ benefits.

  • Marra’s Homecare Watertown will be offering drive through service and scheduled appointments only in order to provide the medical equipment needs of the community. Please call (315) 788-8280 with any questions.

  • Pulaski Urgent Care will be adjusting hours of operation due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Hours of operation may change as the demand fluctuates. Starting March 30 we will plan regular office hours 8 am to 4 PM. Telemedicine will be available 4 PM until 8 PM. Telemedicine will be available during regular office hours as possible. We will adjust as needed. We appreciate all the support shown throughout this pandemic.

  • Hospice of Jefferson County continues to care for our patients at home and in our Residence during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, we ask that families and friends work with us by following our new visitor restrictions to help keep everyone healthy and safe. Residence Visitor Restrictions: Until further notice, all visitors to the Residence are restricted to immediate family only. No more than two (2) visitors per patient at a time will be allowed into the Residence. Please do not enter if you have any signs of fever, cough or any respiratory infection. All visitors will be asked to sign the visitor log at the reception desk upon entering (date and time included.) Also, each visitor will be asked to complete a screening form and submit the form to the nurses’ station. No exceptions. Homecare Patients: To ensure the safety and well-being of our homecare patients and their families, please call the family before visiting and do not visit if you have any signs of fever, cough or any respiratory infection.
