PIERREPONT MANOR, NY — Dale A. Steele passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, at his home. He was 81 years old.
Born Jan. 2, 1937, the son to the late Ward and Thelma Castor Steele, he graduated in 1955 from Mannsville- Manor Central School.
Dale married Elsie Nemier at the Union Church Parsonage, Pierrepont Manor on April, 19, 1957.
He worked for General Electric, Syracuse, for 21 years and at the Miller Brewery, Fulton for 18 years, retiring in 1994. Most recently he enjoyed the time he worked for Hi-Lite, Adams Center. He was a dog control officer for the townships of Sandy Creek and Richland for several years and served as councilman for the Town of Ellisburg from 1975 to 1982.
Dale was a member of Union Church and Pierrepont Manor Improvement Club and he was also involved for several years with the Mannsville-Manor Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie, Pierrepont Manor; a daughter, JoAnne (Gene) Barkley, Pierrepont Manor; daughter-in-law, Jodi Steele, Adams; grandchildren, Brian (Briana) Tario, Corey (Alexandria) Barkley, Kyle Steele, Kraig Steele and a great-granddaughter, Kaycee Tario. Also surviving is his sister Joan Miller and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Barry, grandson Kirk, 2 sisters, Phyllis Parker and Elaine Babbitt.
The memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville, with Pastor David Rudd officiating. Calling hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
