DEC announces 10th annual Jefferson County Youth Turkey Hunt

WATERTOWN, NY — New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police Officers (ECOs) are offering youth ages 12 to 15 an opportunity to hunt turkey with the officers this spring at the 10th anniversary youth turkey hunt. The hunt is a two-day event with an educational day, held at the Sackets Harbor Sportsman’s Club.

The youth hunt begins at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, and the hunt day is Saturday, April 20.

Interested youth hunters must possess a New York State small game license and valid turkey tags. The event is free to the participants and all equipment will be provided if necessary.

Signup sheets are available at the Region 6 state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Law Enforcement Office at the following locations: the Dulles State Office Building, 317 Washington St, Watertown; Akins Archery, 25834 NY-12, Watertown; VanTassel’s Gunsmithing, 30412 NY-37, Evans Mills; and through Facebook on the New York Conservation Officers Association (NYCOA) page: https://www.facebook.com/NYCOA.org/.

The event is hosted by the Sackets Harbor Sportsman’s Club and sponsored by the Northern New York Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and NYCOA.
