WATERTOWN, NY – The New York State Department of Corrections is recruiting for the upcoming NYS Corrections Officer exam.

Thinking about a career in Corrections? All candidates must have a GED or high school diploma and be at least 21 years of age by the completion of the Academy. Applicant must be willing to be away from home for the duration of the Academy (which is currently 8 weeks and held in Albany) with weekends off. Upon graduation, must be willing to work away from home until an opportunity to transfer to a facility closer to home becomes available, which is usually a year.
Upon graduation from the Academy, must be able to work all three shifts which includes days, evenings and overnights with a 4-day on and 2-day off work schedule. Visit the recruiter for more information on hours, benefits and how to apply for the exam.
