Deputies: Two dead after crash, fire on Golden Road in the town of Lewis

LOWVILLE, NY —  The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, April 11:

“Around 3:46am Saturday, April 11, 2020, Lewis County 911 Center received a call from a passing motorist of an unwitnessed one-vehicle crash with the vehicle on fire in the town of Lewis. Upon further investigation by responding patrols it was determined that a 2000 Saturn four door was operating westerly on Golden Road and drove off the left side of the road and struck a tree. The vehicle then caught fire and was later extinguished by West Leyden Fire Department. As a result, the two occupants in the car were found deceased. The names of the occupants are being withheld at this time for positive identification. Assisting at the scene was New York State Police, New York State Fire, West Leyden Fire and Ambulance members and Growers Towing.”
