Detectives: Drugs, currency and 2010 Mercedes seized in arrest

WATERTOWN, NY —  On 10/20/22 members of the Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force being assisted by The Watertown Police Department, their ID Unit, and The United Sates Homeland Security Investigations Division conducted a vehicle stop on Western Blvd. in the City of Watertown.

Stopped was a 2010 Mercedes AMG being operated by Timothy J. Layo at approximately 1:00 PM. The drug task force had obtained search warrants for Layo and his vehicle. We also held a search warrant for his parent’s residence located at 611 Cayuga Ave. Watertown. Both warrants were signed by, honorable Judge Neddo Watertown City Court.

As a result, 10 envelopes of suspected fentanyl were recovered from the vehicle and approximately $1,000.00 in US currency from the residence.

As a result of that investigation a third search warrant was obtained for his residence, located at 1204 Superior St. Apt. H5 Watertown, NY. That search warrant was signed by the Honorable City Court Judge Swartz.

As a result of that search a large quantity of suspected fentanyl was recovered from that residence. At the conclusion of the three search warrants a total of the following items were seized:

– $1900.00 in US currency.
– 7,283 glassine envelopes of suspected fentanyl.
– 2010 Mercedes AMG automobile.

This was the result of a several month investigation where information was developed that Layo was dealing illegal narcotics in the City of Watertown involving both residences listed above.

Arrested as a result of this investigation:
Timothy J. Layo, 38 YOA for:
– 1 Count of Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3 rd degree.

Layo was arraigned in the CAP court located at the Public Safety Building and released on his own recognizance. As this investigation continues, additional charges are pending.
