Detectives seize drugs, currency and shotgun in search of vehicle and storage unit in town of Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — The Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force released the following statement on Jan. 27, 2021:

“On 01/22/21 at approximately 2:00 PM, Members of the Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force conducted a search of a motor vehicle and storage unit located 21187 NYS 12F in the town of Watertown.

The Task force was assisted by members of the Watertown Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The storage unit was leased by the operator of the motor vehicle, Daniel J. Borg 42 YOA residing in the City of Watertown. The following items were seized from the vehicle and storage unit:

– $2342.00 in US currency.
– 325 grams of Molly.
– 534 glassine envelopes of suspect heroin.
– A small amount of powder cocaine.
– A sawed-off .410 shotgun with a pistol grip.

This was the result of a several week investigation where information was developed Borg was using this storage unit to store narcotics and the vehicle
to transport them.

Arrested as a result of this investigation:
Daniel J. Borg, 42 YOA

1. Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree
2. Criminal Possession of a weapon in the third degree

Borg is currently out on bond for prior drug charges not connected to this investigation. Borg was video arraigned in the Town of Watertown Court in
front of Honorable Judge Mathew Porter. Borg was held without bail due to
prior felony convictions.

As this investigation continues, additional charges are pending.”
