BROWNVILLE, NY — Donald D. Paige Jr., 63 of E. Main Street, Brownville, passed away Friday morning at the Samaritan Medical Center where he had been a patient since June 15.
Born Aug. 21, 1954, in Watertown, the son of Donald and Joyce DeLair Paige Sr., he graduated from General Brown High School in 1972 and entered the US Army in October of 1972 and served until 1976. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant.
On Dec. 30, 1972, he married Jody G. Gamble at the Presbyterian Church of Dexter. The couple lived in Brownville and Don worked for the railroad and later at Wheeler Sack Air Base at Fort Drum as a maintenance supervisor.
Don was a member of the VFW Post 100, Brownville American Legion Post 588, and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He enjoyed fishing, NY Yankees, NY Giants, Syracuse basketball and country music.
He is survived by his wife Jody and children, Sheri (David) Phillips of Sackets Harbor, Kristin ( Patrick) Ward of Sackets Harbor, Justin (Mary) Paige of Dexter. Grandchildren include Brittnee Ward, Nicholas Neddo, Mariah Paige, Jaycee Paige, Leah Paige, Paige Phillips, Brynn Phillips, Claire Phillips and great granddaughter Brooklynn Loomis; a sister, Julie ( Gary) Stevenson of Plessis and a half-sister BonnieJo Countryman of LaFargeville; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Calling hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. prior to the memorial service. A gathering will be at the Brownville American Legion following at 7 PM.
