Earl E. Bartlett, 95, formerly of West Carthage

WEST CARTHAGE, NY — Earl E. Bartlett, 95, formerly of Star Lake and West Carthage, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 31, 2018, at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown.

Earl was born on April 21, 1923 in Malone, the son of the late Earl and Gladys (Perkins) Bartlett. He was a 1940 graduate of Saranac Lake High School.

He served in the Air Force during World War II from 1941 to 1945.

He married Kathleen M. Blair on April 5, 1946, at Concord, NH.

Earl worked at the Northern Hardware Store in Malone and the Newton Falls Paper Mill (Appleton Paper) as a scheduler for 35 years, retiring in 1985. The couple moved to Carthage in 1990.  Kathleen died Feb. 10, 2015.

Earl was a charter member of the Star Lake K of C # 5718, Carthage Council # 291 K of C member, American Legion and former eucharist minister and greeter at St. James Church in Carthage. He was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Rice, Chenango Forks, Carol Marcelletta, Rochester, and Patricia Denton, Rochester; a son, Stephen E. Bartlett, Hull, MA; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Shear, and three sisters, Doris Walker, Marjorie LaPrad and Joyce Boucher.

Funeral services will be held privately by the family. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Carthage. There will be no calling hours.
