Elaine H. Burns, 81, Lowville

LOWVILLE, NY  –  Elaine H. Burns, 81, of Dicob Road, passed away, September 23, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Newport, TN, surrounded by family and friends.

Elaine was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Patterson, NJ, the daughter of the late Thomas and Eleanor McFadden VanSaun.  Elaine graduated Ramapo High School in Spring Valley, NY in 1958.

On May 26, 1962, she married The Love of Her Life, Frank (Burnsy) Burns, in Midland Park, New Jersey.

In 1968 they moved the family to a Jefferson County dairy farm in Pamelia, NY, working as a self-employed dairy farmer. They eventually moved the family to a farm in Evans Mills, NY until they retired from farming in 1987. After retiring from farming, the family moved to their present address in Lowville, NY where Elaine spent the next 31 years as a very devoted real estate agent in Lewis County.

Elaine had a significant impact on the lives of many people during her lifetime. She always believed there is good in everyone, and we all need to look for the good in each other.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Eleanor McFadden VanSaun, and her loving husband of 60 years, Frank F. Burns.

She is survived by five children; son Ken and his wife, Missy Burns of Lowville; a daughter Sandie and her husband, Darren Paul of Newport, Tennessee; son Scott Burns and his fiancée, Jenn Stanford Johnson of Beaver Falls; son Frank and his wife, Rhunette Burns of Croghan; son Jim and his wife, Kathie (Egloff) Burns of Lowville; a special son Donnie and his wife, Trude Matteson of Evans Mills; a sister Linda and her husband, Mike Snyder of Millsboro, DE; a sister-in-law Jude and her husband, Richard Law of Safford, Arizona; thirteen grandchildren, Amy Burns Godlewski (Joseph); Stacy Burns Godlewski (Andrew); Stephanie Self Cavins (Kasey); Kyle Hart (Kelsey Delles); Myanna Gokey White; Joshua Burns (Breanna); Wyatt Gokey; Tyler Burns; Brandon Burns (Jonna Kloster); Kaitlyn Burns; Cassidy Burns; Lauren Burns; Jonathon Burns; fifteen great-grandchildren; Parker, Layne, and Braylie Godlewski; Carson, Colten, and Caydence Godlewski; Tyler Hawk, Nash Reed, Lucas and Jaymie Cavins; Kinzleigh and Kenneth Hart; Ainzleyanna White and Erieona Honan; Rhyan McKenna Richardson-Morris; and many nieces and nephews.

Cranberry Lake was their home away from home, where she loved to fish on their pontoon boat and camp. Elaine and Frank especially enjoyed the company of their two labs, Molly B and Maggie B.

There will be no calling hours.

A celebration of life in New York will be announced at a later date.
