Evans Mills man charged with felony DWI after being found passed out in vehicle, troopers say

WATERTOWN, NY — On Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, state solice responded to a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway on State Route 12 in the town of Pamelia.

When troopers arrived, they located a vehicle in the east bound driving lane facing west bound and a male, later identified as Christopher Walts was unconscious in the driver’s seat.  Guilfoyle ambulance arrived on scene moments later and were able to revive Walts after giving a dose of Narcan, troopers said. He was transported to Samaritan Medical Center by ambulance where he was treated and released, police said.

During the investigation, it was determined Walts was under the influence of Alcohol and Heroin.

Christopher G. Walts, 27, of Evans Mills, NY, was charged with the following:

  • Felony DWI (2 previous convictions within 10 years)

  • Use of motor vehicle without an Interlock System, class “A” misdemeanor

  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree, class “E” felony

  • DWAI Drugs

  • Several Vehicle and Traffic Violations

Walts was arraigned in the town of Hounsfield Court and is scheduled to appear in Oct. 25 in Pamelia Town Court.
