PHOENIX, AZ — Ferne Giddings Girard left this life to join her beloved Louie on May 11, 2018, in Phoenix, AZ.
She was born July 29, 1926, on the Giddings homestead in Redfield, NY to Elwin and Anna Mae Bradley Giddings. The family moved to the Ellisburg area, where Ferne graduated from Union Academy of Belleville with the Class of 1944.
Ferne worked for Northern Haulers, as well as Bagley and Sewell in Watertown, NY until her marriage to Lewis Girard at St Cecilia’s Church in Adams, NY on October 16, 1949. The Girards moved to the Milford, MI area in 1951 where Ferne was a homemaker, then worked at General Telephone and Gambles Hardware in Milford.
Ferne was predeceased by Lewis in 1970. She then moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1977 where she worked in various retail establishments until her retirement.
She loved square dancing, pipe organ performances, and travel.
She was predeceased by her sisters Lemoine Giddings, Bradenton, FL; Eleanor Giddings, Bradenton, FL; and her brothers Lloyd Giddings, Ellisburg, NY; and Bradley Giddings, Central Square, NY.
She is survived by her children Lawrence, Depauville, NY; Elaine Jones (Terry), Phoenix, AZ; and Katherine Bryant (Charles), Aurora, CO, four grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
Burial will be at Milford Memorial Cemetary, Milford MI on August 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM.
