Flower Memorial Library given $5K in state aid for new services

WATERTOWN, NY — Flower Memorial Library in Watertown, NY is pleased to announce that we received Bullet Aid from Senator Patty Ritchie in the amount of $5,000 for the enhancement of library services and programs. We are excited to reveal to the public these new additions to the library.

Community sewing machines and quilting supplies: We are pleased to offer to the public the use of 4 Singer sewing machines and basic sewing supplies. We also purchased an AccuQuilt machine which allows patrons to cut out certain fabric shapes using special die-cuts. These machines are available to the public during open sewing lab hours or by making an appointment.

Art Easels: In order to improve upon our already busy adult painting programs in the library, we were able to purchase 24 desk top easels. These easels will be for library program use only.

Toys: Flower Memorial Library is pleased to offer brand new toys for our brand new family computing lab. Patrons are welcome to use the lab anytime the library is open. The idea behind the lab is that parents with young children can come in and use a computer while their children safely play in the same room with them. Toys include new doll houses, cars and trucks, special toys for babies, and LEGO building toys.

Empire State Park Passes: These passes offer free entry into any New York State park and are available for check out with your library card. We have 5 passes available and they can be checked out for 1 week to Flower Library
patrons.

Vox Books: Vox Books are children’s books that are a combination of an audio book and a print book. These read-a- long books are available for checkout for 4 weeks and come in fiction and nonfiction stories.
