Garry S. Griggs, 63, Norfolk

NORFOLK, NY – Garry S. Griggs, 63, of West Main St., Norfolk, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at Upstate Medical University Hospital.

Born April 8, 1955, in Jersey City, NJ, a son to George Griggs and Marjorie Terisa (Adriance) Bevins, he attended Toms River High School.

Garry worked for many years as a custom carpenter for Pryce Brothers Trim Contractors in New Jersey.

A marriage to Gail Susan Torcicollo on Dec. 2, 1973, later ended in separation. Garry is survived by his longtime companion, Darlene Spagone, Norfolk, NY.

Garry had three daughters, Ginger Susan (Mark) Thomas, Edwards, NY; Gwendolyn Suzette (Jeremy) Kroll, Crown City, OH; Gena Starr Griggs, Gallipolis, OH; one son, Anthony Stephen (Janet and her children) Griggs, Carrollton, OH; six siblings, Barnard Griggs, Hawaii; Peggy (Richard) Polhemus, Manalapah, NJ; Dawn (Raymond) Pryce, Forked River, NJ; George Griggs Jr., New Egypt, NJ; Glenn (Barbara) Griggs, Winthrop, NY; Joanne Kahelalis, DeGrasse, NY; three grandchildren, Tyler Allen Kroll; Brionna Rae Kroll; DaCoda Charles Griggs-Hudson. Garry is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

He was predeceased by his father, George Griggs, and a sister, Sandra Swaboda Moklak.

Garry was an amazing musician, he loved to play the guitar, sing and write music. He played in many bands over the years. He loved woodworking and made each of his daughters doll houses. He was also very talented at trim work and other custom carpentry.

Arrangements are entrusted to Northridge Cremation Chapel, owned and operated by Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc.

There will be no calling hours.
