Gerald T. Gerrard, 72, Black River

BLACK RIVER, NY — Gerald T. Gerrard, 72, of 119 N. Main St., Black River, passed away April 19, 2019, at the Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

Born Sept. 15, 1946, in Cortland, NY, the son of Patrick and Jennie Gerrard, he graduated in 1965 from Cortland High School. Following school he entered the US Air Force on March 11, 1966. He was honorably discharged on January 6, 1967 and received the National Defense Service Medal.

He married Marian Wendell on Oct. 21, 1972, at the Black River United Methodist Church.

Mr. Gerrard retired in 1992 as a deputy sheriff following a fifteen year career.

He went on to work for Fort Drum public works for several years.

Among his survivors are his wife, Marian S. Gerrard and his three sons, Gerald “Jerry Lee” Gerrard, Calcium, Joseph P. Gerrard, Calcium, Patrick M. Gerrard, Cape Vincent, a nephew and several cousins.

He enjoyed riding his bike and enjoyed participating in the SpokerRide in Sackets Harbor.

Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River. It was his wish to be cremated. Burial will take place at a later date.
