Great White and Vixen to perform Aug. 29 at New York State Fair

SYRACUSE, NY —  it will be a night of raw power when 80s hair metal groups Great White and Vixen share the Experience Stage at the Great New York State Fair Saturday, August 29 beginning at 7 p.m. as part of the Chevrolet Music Festival. The performance is free and takes place on Biker Appreciation Day, in which people arriving at the Fairgrounds on a motorcycle can park for free in any Fair parking lot and pay $1 for admission when they show a valid New York State motorcycle license.

Great White is best known for the rock staples “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” “Rock Me,” “Lady Red Light,” “House of Broken Love” and many more and is in its fourth decade of touring and recording. Vixen was one of the few all-female hard rock bands to break through to the mainstream, becoming regulars on MTV behind singles such as “Edge of a Broken Heart” and “Cryin’.”

“These two classic groups rock as hard as ever, which is a perfect end to our day of celebrating New Yorkers who hit the open road on two wheels. It’ll be a terrific night to sit by our pond and enjoy some great hard rock,” said Fair Director Troy Waffner.

This is the first show announced for the Experience Stage, following announcements of Chevy Court shows for Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Sheena Easton. Free concerts on those stages are sponsored by Chevrolet.

America’s first and oldest state fair, the Great New York State Fair, is “Beyond Great.” Founded in 1841, the Fair is the largest state fair in the east and America’s third largest state fair. More than 1.3 million people came in 2019 to enjoy the best food and beverages of New York agriculture, the largest free music festival of national touring groups in the nation, top class entertainment, shopping and more.

The Fair is a key piece of Governor Cuomo’s CNY Rising strategy of growing the Central New York economy through tourism. Fair attendance is up more than 46% since the beginning of more than $120 million in investments. The 2020 Fair runs from August 21 to September 7. Information about the Fair can be found here.

The New York State Fairgrounds is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available here.
