Helen K. Garvin, 92, Black River

BLACK RIVER, NY — Helen K. Garvin, 92, Black River, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at the Hospice Residence at the Ellis Farm, Gotham Street, Watertown. She was 92 years old.

The funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at Holy Family Church with Father John Demo officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery immediately following the funeral mass. Calling hours will be held 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.

Helen was born in Dexter, NY, on Jan. 25, 1927, a daughter to Anthony and Pauline Kozlowski. She married John J. Garvin on September 22, 1962 at St. Elizabeth’s Church, Dexter, NY. Mr. Garvin passed away in 1995.

For many years Helen and John worked many long hours on the family farm which is located on the Staplin Rd, Black River which is now ran by their son Jody.

She is survived by her son John “Jody” (Jennifer Talbot) Garvin, Black River, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, John, Helen was predeceased by her sister, Mary Parks and her 3 brothers, Stanley, Johnny and Eddie Kozlowski.

Helen was a lifetime member of the Holy Family Church, volunteered at Sister’s of Precious Blood and enjoyed gardening, baking and doing puzzles.
