Heroin, guns, cash and paraphernalia seized in Depauville raid, police say

DEPAUVILLE, NY — On July 11 members of the Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 32455 Caroline St. also known as County Route 179 Depauville, NY, which is located in the town of Clayton.

The Task force was assisted by members of the Watertown Police Department SRT and ID units, Jefferson County SERT, K-9, and road patrols.

The house was occupied by two adults and one 7-year-old child.

The search warrant was signed Honorable Judge Jerome, Town of Clayton Court, at the conclusion of the search warrant the following items were seized from the house:

  • $3,037.00 in US currency.

  • 27 grams of heroin.

  • Digital scales, packaging material, and an electronic grinder.

  • Two handguns, one of which was loaded.

  • A loaded 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber rifle.

During this investigation information was developed by the citizens of Depauville that illegal drugs were being sold from this residence and various locations around Depauville, police said. This information led to this undercover drug investigation and subsequent search warrant.

Arrested as a result of this investigation:

  • Samuel W. Orr, 33, and Hailey R Sanchez, age not provided, both residing at this location on the following charges:

  1. Criminal possession of controlled substance 3rd degree

  2. Criminal possession of a firearm, 2 counts

  3. Criminal use of drug paraphernalia

The defendants will be arraigned later this date in Clayton Town Court.

The 7 year-old child was turned over the mother who resides at a different location, police said. Child protective services will also be contacted.

As this investigation continues, additional charges are pending, police said.
