SACKETS HARBOR, NY — James P. Mooney, 74, Sackets Harbor, passed away Saturday, March 30, at his home.
A prayer service will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville with Rev. Michael Gaffney, pastor of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Sackets Harbor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackets Harbor Military Cemetery.
Born July 10, 1944, in Watertown, a son to Francis and Carrie Parnell Mooney, he graduated from Watertown High School. Following graduation, Jim served with the US Army from 1965 to 1967.
He married Elizabeth Johnson on Nov. 22, 1969.
Mr. Mooney joined the City of Watertown Fire Department in 1971, retiring in 2004 after 33 years of service.
Jim was a member of the Brownville American Legion #583, the Adams VFW #5344 and the Watertown Elks Lodge # 496.
Jim is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, Sackets Harbor; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Tammy Mooney, Adams Center; a daughter Kathleen Mooney and her companion Scott Hazelton, Adams Center, a son, F. Ryan Mooney, Sackets Harbor; grandchildren, Lexie and Bailey Hazelton, Brady and Jameson Mooney.
A grandson Madden James Patrick Mooney passed away Aug. 6, 2014.
