Jeremiah P. “Jerry” Lantier, 90, Clayton

CLAYTON, NY — Jeremiah P. “Jerry” Lantier, 90, died suddenly at his home in Clayton on November 21, 2018.

Graveside committals will be held in 2019 at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Colon-Couch Post 821. There are no calling hours or funeral.

Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.

Jerry was born in Theresa on March 7, 1928, a son of Francis H. and Laura A. Sturtvant Lantier. He was a 1946 graduate of Mount St. Michael’s Academy, Bronx and graduated from Iona College, New Rochelle, in 1951. He served in the US Air Force from Nov. 7, 1952, to Aug. 30, 1956. While in the Air Force, he played clarinet in its band.

He was a history teacher for the Carthage School System.

Jerry loved music and playing with the Clayton Village Band. In the summers he sold tickets for the American and Denny Boatlines in Clayton.

He is survived by nephews Rodney P. and his wife Nancy Lantier of Burke, VA; Kenneth P. and his wife Deborah Lantier of Ottawa, Ontario; and Daniel T. Lantier and his fiance Debi Hartman of New Port Richey, Florida.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Francis S. Lantier, and a sister, Clara Jane Sehlmacher.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s name may be made to the Clayton Opera House, 403 Riverside Dr., Clayton, NY 13624.
