John “Mike” Linehan, 81, formerly from Henderson Harbor

WATERTOWN, NY — John “Mike” Linehan, 81, formerly from Henderson Harbor, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at the Samaritan Summit Village Nursing Home where he’d been residing.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown.

Mike was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Watertown, NY, the son of the late John Raymond and Helen Linehan. After graduating from High School, Mike joined the Air Force in 1960 where he was honorably discharged in 1966. Afterwards he owned and operated his family’s insurance agency.

On Sept. 29, 1967, Mike married Carolyn Adler in Wichita, KS, where they lived for three years prior to relocating to the north country, ultimately moving to Henderson Harbor, NY, where they would spend the next 51 years together.

Growing up, Mike enjoyed spending summers on the river with close friends who were like family. After moving to Henderson Harbor, he succumbed to the lure of lake spending as much time on or near the water as he could.  On the weekends you could always find him out on the water fishing, whether on his boat Bass Bandit with family, or with one of many longtime fishing buddies. He also enjoyed projects around the house/garage including carpentry, construction, masonry work, and landscape and design.  And was often known to friendly “supervise” other people’s projects as well!

Along with his wife of 54 years, Carolyn, Mike is survived by a son, Sean Linehan, PA; a sister, Rae Ann Donoghue, Watertown; three nieces and a nephew, Mary Donoghue Fraser, Peggy Donoghue Gross, Charles “Chip” Donoghue and Kate Donoghue.

Services will be scheduled at a later date.

Donations in Mike’s memory can be made to the Henderson Rescue Squad, 8939 State Route 178, Henderson, NY 13650.
