Joseph R. Jordan, 67, Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, NY — Joseph R. Jordan, 67, of Sand Street, Philadelphia, passed away, Wednesday evening, Nov. 14, 2018, at his home while under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Born March 13, 1951, in Carthage, NY, a son of Rodney and Margurete Hull Jordan, he graduated from Indian River Central School in 1969.

Joseph served in the US Navy from 1970-1973 and completed 20 years of military duty with the National Guard 145th Maintenance Unit.  He served in Vietnam while in the US Navy and served in Desert Storm while in the National Guard.

He was a civilian employee at Fort Drum, as a HVAC Technician from 1973 until his retirement in 2009.

Joseph married Diane Scott on June 14, 1974, at the Philadelphia Methodist Church.

He was a lifetime member of the Philadelphia American Legion, Robert Markwick Post No. 798, serving as Commander for two years.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Diane; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nicole and Douglas Walroth, Georgetown, KY, Jennifer and Brian Lynch, Antwerp, NY and Erin Jordan, Philadelphia, NY; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Diana Shepherd, Evans Mills, NY, Linda and Rick DuFour, VA; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, John and Darlene Hull, Antwerp, NY, Lloyd and Christine Jordan, Philadelphia, NY, Thomas and Amy Jordan, Antwerp, NY; several nieces and nephews.

His parents and a brother-in-law, Gerald Shepherd, died previously.

Funeral services with honors by the Philadelphia American Legion will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY, with Kenneth Clyde, presiding. Family and friends will gather at the Philadelphia American Legion following services.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at the funeral home.
