Joseph S. Rudd, 41, Lacona

LACONA, NY — Joseph Sarkis Rudd passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Nov. 13, 2022. Joe was loved and cared for by his wife Christina, his children, several family members, and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Joseph was born on Dec. 24, 1980, the son of David and Cynthia (Thompson) Rudd in Watertown, NY. He grew up on a small dairy farm in Boylston, NY, with his parents and three brothers, Benjamin (Michelle) Rudd, Matthew (Lisa) Rudd, and Levi (Andrea) Rudd.

Joe attended Sandy Creek Central School and graduated in 2000. He went on to attend Jefferson Community College to foster his love of cooking. He graduated in 2010 with an Associate’s Degree in Hospitality.

Joseph married Christina Forrester, daughter of Dennis Forrester and Carol Ackley on April 30, 2011. Their marriage gave Joe three more siblings and their spouses. Matthew (Lucy) Forrester, Amy (Brian) Zumbach, and Rachel (Paul) Zumbach.

Joe and Chrissy have four beautiful children that were Joe’s pride and joy. Samuel, Elva, Isabel, and Araxie bravely battled cancer with their dad and mom. One of their special memories is camping together as a family. In May 2022, the family was able to fulfill Joe’s lifelong dream of seeing a production at Sight and Sound Theatre in Ronks, PA.

He was employed by Sandy Creek Central School as a custodian for 10 years. He was well loved by the SCCS family. Joe was a man that liked to keep busy. He enjoyed yardwork, snow removal, maple sugaring, cheese making, and woodworking. Joe was always a devoted voter and was very proud to vote in the 2022 Midterm Election.

Joseph has 38 nieces and nephews, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a niece, Arianna Zumbach and a nephew, Christian Rudd.

Calling hours will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at Sandy Creek United Wesleyan Church (Formerly Cazenovia Equipment) 6224 N. Main St., Sandy Creek. A private committal service will be held at the North Boylston Cemetery at the family’s convenience. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held Memorial Day 2023 at 11 a.m. at Forrester Farm, Woodville, NY.
