WATERTOWN, NY –The JRC Foundation, Inc. announced today that it received a $15,000 Community Impact Grant from New York Life in support of the Bridges program, which provides services and supports to children and youth with disabilities from age 3, through the various stages of youth, and into early adulthood. The program offers vital afterschool and weekend activities which help build social skills, grow independence, gain needed life skills, assist with schoolwork, and provide recreation. Bridges is a Program of The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence and offers three program sites throughout St. Lawrence County.
“Many lives will be positively impacted by New York Life’s investment in the Bridges Program and we are extremely grateful for their support,” said Michelle Carpenter, Executive Director of the Foundation. “With support from New York Life, we will be able to provide essential program supplies, community outings and recreational activities offered through Bridges. The grant will also help us add sensory items to our spaces and provide a more comfortable and engaging environment for our participants.”

The Community Impact Grant program awards grants of up to $25,000 to local nonprofit organizations, which are championed by New York Life agents and employees. Since the program’s inception in 2008, nearly 760 grants totaling more than $10 million have been awarded to nonprofits across the country.
The JRC Foundation, Inc. was established in November of 2012 to receive and administer funds through fundraising and other initiatives to support The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence (formerly the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center and St. Lawrence NYSARC) in continuing to provide essential services for the children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community.
