Jreck Subs bestows awards on local graduates for winning attitudes

News release

WATERTOWN, NY – Jreck Subs is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2021 Jreck Subs Winning Attitude awards. More than 20 recent high school graduates throughout Jefferson and Lewis Counties are being recognized for demonstrating a positive attitude inside and outside of the classroom.

The program, which includes a monetary award of up to $250, was started 18 years ago by a group of Jreck Subs franchisees. Participating local high school faculty and administrators are asked to identify students who may not qualify for academic or athletic scholarships but work hard and exhibit a cheerful and optimistic demeanor in the face of life’s challenges. To date, Jreck Subs has awarded nearly $60,000 to local graduates.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and reward students who strive to do their best in school, while maintaining a bright outlook, no matter what comes their way,” shared Sally Rice, a Jreck Subs franchisee for nearly 40 years. “It’s also a chance to give something back to the communities in which we operate. We look forward to presenting these awards each year,” Rice added.

Jreck Subs CEO, Matt Darrah, said that he’s proud of this partnership with local school districts. “We greatly appreciate the patronage of our customer base and look for ways to support our schools, as well as other community endeavors,” added Darrah. As the company looks toward expansion, Darrah explained they hope to grow the awards program to benefit more students in the coming years.
