Kenneth L. Parker, 91, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Kenneth L. Parker, 91, of 214 Seymour St., Watertown, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, at the Samaritan Medical Center.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Jonas Tondayu, pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born in Watertown, March 29, 1927, a son to John and Isabelle Beenfield Parker.  Following his education, he served with the Army Air Corp from July of 1945 and was honorably discharged in March of 1947.

Mr. Parker went to work for the New York State Department of Transportation as a truck driver at the VanDuzee St. location, retiring after 37 years of service from the Rt. 342 state barn.

Ken married Mary Rose Marra on Oct. 30, 1948, at St. Anthony’s Church.  Mrs. Parker passed away Nov. 7, 2018, at age 95.

Mr. Parker was a member of the CSEA, the North Side Improvement League and the Brownville American Legion.

Ken enjoyed playing cards, gardening and spending time at the cottage at Hy-Knoll, Sackets Harbor with his family.  Ken enjoyed watching Nascar racing on television.

He is survived by his children Ronald J. and Nancy Parker, Linda Parker, Michael and Winnie Parker and Stephen Parker, all of Watertown; his grandchildren Melissa (Craig) Collins, Heather (Jeff) Johnson, Michael (Jacklyn) Parker, Ryan Parker, Ashley Parker, Matt Parker (fiancée’ Tiffany Girard), Daniel Don, Rebecca Don; her great grandchildren, Gavin, Hailey, Madison, Emiley, Zoey, Ella, Savannah, Cali, Caiden, Camden, and Paisley.
