Lawrence R. “Larry” Gidney, 64, Carthage

CARTHAGE, NY – Lawrence R. “Larry” Gidney, 64, died late Monday evening, Feb. 18, at Carthage Area Hospital.

Born Sept. 26, 1954, in Ogdensburg, the son of the late Bobby and Janet Gidney, he graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1972.

He married Debra Burrows on August 23, 1975 in Deferiet Union Church.

Larry was very devoted to is family and friends. He enjoyed his current employment at the Jack J. Boak, Jr., Educational Center in Lowville, as maintenance supervisor where he enjoyed working with the staff and students.

He is survived by his wife, Debra; a daughter, Heather Wagner and her husband Jason, with two grandsons, Finnley and Grady all of Carthage; his son, Adam Gidney and fiancé, Tina Lira of San Antonio, TX; three sisters, Claudette Ashley; Lorraine (George) Smithers of Ogdensburg; Roberta (Wayne) Woodard of Edgewater, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Larry held many jobs in his lifetime, car salesman, maintenance, landscaping, building, Champion International. He was always successful in finding work and doing it to his best to provide for his family.

He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed the Lake George Concours d’Elegance as well as being a member of the Northern New York Corvette Club when he purchased his dream car a few years ago.

Per Larry’s wishes, there will be no services.
