Lewis County Health System to open Covid-19 testing site Wednesday

LOWVILLE, NY ─ Lewis County Health System, in partnership with Lewis County and Lewis County Public Health, will resume no-cost Covid-19 drive-thru Covid PCR testing only for individuals who reside, attend school, or work in Lewis County beginning, Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

The site will be open for testing Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m at Maple Ridge Center, 7421 East Road, in Lowville. No appointments are necessary and there is no rapid testing.

Individuals must live, attend school, or work in Lewis County to be eligible for testing and show proof of residency, school or employment (driver’s license, school ID, work badge or paycheck stub). For children a parent ID is acceptable.

All individuals requesting screening testing be asked to provide their name, date of birth, physical address, email address, and phone number to allow for contact tracing and result follow-up. Samples will be sent to an off-site lab with results available in approximately two days. Results will be available directly to tested individuals through the BioReference Laboratories patient portal. There is no cost or age limit for testing.

School students, school employees, and family members are encouraged to use this program for screening tests before school events to decrease exposure risk in our schools.

Symptomatic patients should contact their physician for guidance with testing and treatment or seek Emergency care if they are experiencing any severe or distressing symptoms.

We continue to try to work together as a community to have our county prevail over the effects of the Covid pandemic. We appreciate your cooperation with the new restricted access to this testing as well as the Lewis County based funding source that makes this no cost testing program possible.

Members of the community can visit https://www.lcgh.net/coronavirus for updates and additional COVID-19 pandemic information and resources. The testing site will be closed on Monday, September 6, for the Labor Day holiday.
