Leonard “Bud” Vincent, 90, Brownville

BROWNVILLE, NY — Leonard “Bud” Vincent, 90, Brownville, passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones at Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness.

Leonard was born July 2, 1928, the son George J. and Frances (Marvin) Vincent. He attended Brownville Glen Park School. He entered the military, training for radio repair in Georgia earning his certification. He was stationed in Germany from 1950 – 1952 during the occupation.

He married the love of his life, Shirley VanBrocklin, on Dec. 24, 1953, at St. Elizabeth Church in Dexter, NY. For 64 years they resided in Dexter, NY eventually being surrounded by their children and their families. He was a devoted family man who took great pleasure in having his children and grandchildren close by.

He was employed by Lyle Marvin for 17 years and then became owner of Marvin Refrigeration July 1, 1978, until he retired in 2007. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and could always be found tinkering in his shop repairing things for friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; daughter, Janice Lomber Dexter; sons, Thomas (Ann) Vincent Brownville, Danny (Nancy) Vincent Dexter; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Donald Vincent, Watertown; and a sister, Sandra Hagen, Brownville. Leonard was predeceased by a granddaughter and his siblings, a sister Betty McCreadie, and brothers George, Ronald and James Vincent and Melvin Bartlett.

There will be a graveside service 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in Brownville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Hospice of Jefferson County 1398 Gotham Street Watertown, NY 13601.
