Lewis County: 2 positive cases

LOWVILLE, NY —  The Lewis County Public Health Department confirms it received  notification on Saturday evening, March 28, that two Lewis County residents have tested positive for the COVID- 19 virus.

These are the first two cases of COVID-19 in Lewis County.

The individuals are isolated in a negative pressure room at Lewis County General Hospital.

Public Health staff is investigating and identifying close contacts and exposure risk.

We are fortunate that Lewis County is one of the last counties in New York State
with confirmed cases of the virus. Our early adoption of social distancing strategies has provided some protection for the broader community.

Slowing the rate of growth remains the key to protecting all residents of Lewis County.

Following public health guidance for social distancing and washing your hands is critical.

Right now, being a good neighbor means staying home.
