LOWVILLE, NY —Â Lewis County received reports of the first two cases of COVID-19 on March 28, 2020.
As of today, there have been a total of 64 cases of COVID-19 in the county. With each confirmed case of COVID-19, Public Health staff investigate and identify close contacts and exposure risk.
Per New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, those persons who have been in contact with someone who is positive for COVID-19 will be placed in quarantine and monitored for symptoms. A person who has tested positive for COVID-19 will be placed in isolation. Recommendations for the use of isolation and quarantine are an important component of a multi- layered strategy to prevent sustained spread of COVID-19 in New York State.
To date, Lewis County Public Health reports the following number of quarantines, isolations, tests and results for COVID-19 testing and monitoring in Lewis County:
Individuals Under Quarantine – 83
Individuals Under Isolation – 5
Total Individuals Tested- 4,701
Total Tests Performed– 8,285
Negative Results – 8,208
Pending Results – 13
Confirmed Cases – 64
Individuals Recovered – 59
