Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility re-opens for in-person visitation

LOWVILLE, NY  ─ All four floors of the Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF) will fully reopen for in-person visitation on Friday, May 7, 2021.

Visitation was suspended on April 27 due to an outbreak of scabies on the facility’s first floor. The facility closed all four floors and treated all residents as a precautionary measure. Since the initial outbreak on the first floor, there were no new scabies cases on the first floor and no identified instances on the second, third, or fourth floors.

“We are happy to be able to open all floors before the Mother’s Day holiday so families can spend time with their loved ones,” stated Debra Wurz, Nursing Home Administrator. “Residents will also be able to leave the facility for the first time to spend time with their families since the COVID pandemic began.”

A reminder, no appointments are needed to visit. Visitors must sign in and out when they visit and follow the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention. This includes maintaining six feet of social distancing, hand washing and sanitizing, and wearing a facility-issued face mask. Visitors will be asked to
leave the facility if they do not follow the core principles.
