SMITHVILLE, NY — Linda L. Rumsey, 72, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Smithville Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Alford officiating. Burial will follow in the Smithville Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Born Nov. 6, 1946, in Watertown a daughter to David and Inez Walroth Murphy, she graduated in 1964 from Sackets Harbor Central School.
She married Donald H. Rumsey on March 20, 1967, in the Little White Chapel, Elkton, Md. Mr. Rumsey died Jan. 25, 2007.
Linda enjoyed going to rummage sales, cooking, attending church events but most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Hank (Florence) Rumsey, Smithville; Michael Rumsey, Smithville; three daughters, Cindy Fuller, Kansas; Vicki Rumsey, New York; Paula (Patrick) Steffens, Herkimer; several grandchildren, a great-grandson and a nephew.
Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her sister, Paulette Babcock.
