Man accused of violating order of protection at hospital

WATERTOWN, NY — Cleo E. Vaughns IV, 24, of 1114 Bronson St., Apt. 2, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 1:33 a.m. Sunday, July 22, in the 100 block of Factory Street with second-degree criminal contempt and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Mr. Vaughns is accused of violating the terms of a stay-away order of protection when he grabbed a cell phone from the hand of the protected party, Danielle E. Roberts, 26, when she attempted to contact 911 for emergency assistance at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Samaritan Medical Center, 830 Washington St., according to court documents.

He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment Sunday morning in City Court.
