Man charged with DWI after crashing into utility pole on Huntington Street in Watertown early Saturday

WATERTOWN, NY —  Joseph W. Manson, 25, of 25464 State Route 12, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 1:11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, in the 800 block of Huntington Street with driving while intoxicated and unsafe lane change.

Police said Mr. Manson was traveling east in his 2021 Ram pickup truck when it left the south side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. “The truck sustained heavy front end damage and was removed by Ray’s,” police wrote in an accident report. No injuries were reported. Mr. Manson was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. His BAC was 0.14 percent, police said.

He is summoned to appear July 22 in City Court.

National Grid responded to the scene to replace the pole later Saturday morning.
