Man escapes attic fire in Plessis

PLESSIS, NY — Firefighters from Plessis, Redwood, Alexandria Bay, Clayton, Fishers Landing and LaFargeville were dispatched at 5:07 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, to a working fire in an attic at 41250 Bearup Road in the town of Alexandria.

Initial reports suggested a man was trapped in a locked attic and a door was on fire.

State police and TIERS ambulance assisted at the scene. Further details have not been released at this time.

At 5am this morning Alex Bay Fire got called mutual aid to Plessis for a structure fire with a subject trapped inside. 1-1, 6-1, 9-1, and 4-1 arrived on scene with 15 members of our department. After arriving on scene subject was brought out of the building with only minor injuries. After getting the fire knocked down units were back in service at around 9am! ‼️As a department we want to say great job and well done to all of our members and surrounding departments involved in this call!
