Marjorie H. Doxtater, 97, formerly of Evans Mills

EVANS MILLS, NY — Marjorie H. Doxtater, 97, formerly of Evans Mills, NY, passed away Tuesday evening, March 12, 2019, at Samaritan Summit Village, Washington Street, Watertown, NY where she resided.

Born Feb. 5, 1922, in Theresa, NY, one of nine children of Jack and Edna Crouch Wills, she was educated in LaFargeville schools.

As a young girl she went to work at Timmerman Turkey Farms in LaFargeville.  While working at the farm she met Stanley Doxtater, which resulted in their marriage on December 24, 1941 at the Presbyterian parsonage in Evans Mills. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Evans Mills. Mrs. Doxtater lived there until 2015 when she moved in with family before going to Summit Village. Mrs. Doxtater also was employed at several grocery stores in Evans Mills and for a long time was a retail clerk for S & H Green Stamps in Watertown.

She was a past member of the Evans Mills Eastern Star and very active in local church’s bake sales. Mrs. Doxtater was especially known for her homemade donuts.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter, James (Brenda) of Calcium, NY, Alan of Evans Mills, NY, and Tina Ainsworth, Watertown, NY; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great- great-grandson; a sister, Ilda Dwyer, Theresa, NY; and a brother, Bob Wills, Plessis, NY.

Besides her husband, Stanley, a son, Dennis, two grandsons, Charles and Keith, six brothers and sisters died before her.

A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
